There was no stopping the juggernaut — and it was impossible to ignore — so I was left with two choices. Bust a gut or slit my wrists [having (tried and) failed to create and rupture my own aneurysms, on command (though it is said I can do this for others, in my sleep)]. Let the hilarity begin!
This one tickled me, no end: “In three separate dinners the night before the inauguration, Obama will honor McCain, Biden and Colin Powell. ‘In these times of great challenge and great change, leadership requires rising above the same old narrow partisanship,’ said Obama. ‘Each of these distinguished Americans has spent his life in service to his country, at each and every moment placing the interests of America before issues of political party.'” No, it’s not from the Onion. But it is side-splitting.
I mean, c’mon…though Powell spent a lot of [dishonorable] moments “in service to his country” helping his political party lie America into an illegal, immoral invasion and occupation [because, as he said, he “wasn’t ready to retire”], the fact that he later endorsed Obama rather than McCain shows that he “at each and every moment, places the interests of America before issues of political party?” Is that all it takes?
Excusez-moi, but. That only works if Powell = America [because Powell made treasonously clear that no amount of blood spilled was worth more than keeping his job until he was “ready to retire.” At each and every moment, his “interests” were paramount] or if Obama = America [because Obama’s all that matters. And, as Center of the Known Universe, if it wasn’t about Obama, it didn’t happen]. Actually, I think I’m both right…but it gets better.
“Marijuana legalization was ranked #1 when Obama opened his Change.gov website to questions from the public. In an open vote, the public spoke loudly and clearly that marijuana reform was the very first issue that the new President should address. For our trouble, we’ve been rewarded with the sorriest excuse for an answer that Obama’s transition team could possibly have provided:
Q: Will you consider legalizing marijuana so that the government can regulate it, tax it, put age limits on it, and create millions of new jobs and create a billion dollar industry right here in the U.S.?
A: President-elect Obama is not in favor of the legalization of marijuana.”
LOL LOL LOL LOL And you thought he was [s]elected to “give the people what they want.” You thought we the people would finally have a voice? Stop! You’re killin’ me!!! But, wait! There’s more:
“Obama will not use his political capital to advance the legalization of marijuana. While he agrees that arresting adults for marijuana possession is a poor use of law enforcement resources, he believes that the issue remains too controversial to do anything about it.”
It’s all about Obama, baby. It’s his “political capital,” not ours. It doesn’t matter what the people want…pot or peace [or Justice], it’s about what Obama wants. And Obama wants to keep his job. He said whatever he needed to say to suck in as many patsies as possible, he got the promotion, and now we get jack[ed (again)].
One thing which makes me long for an aneurysm is receiving breathless entreaties from otherwise [seemingly] “intelligent” people. “Obama wants to hear from us! Please read the 400-page essay I just sent to him and then you go write something, okay? He really listens.” Are you freakin’ kidding me?!? Those emails are either routed to a :blackhole: or they’re providing hours of “entertainment” for Obama’s minions…
Obama is Dubya with a higher iq, Cheney with a more convincing smile, Rumsfeld with a future…a puppet extraordinaire. And we the sheeple continue our march to slaughter, with hope in our hearts [but nothing between our ears, unfortunately]. Are we having fun, yet?
