AUSTIN- The Bush-Cheney 2000 campaign today announced the launch of the "W Stands for Women" tour. The three-day tour, October 18, 19, 23, features the women who know Governor Bush best including his wife, First Lady of Texas, Laura Bush, his mother, former First Lady Barbara Bush, and Lynne Cheney, wife of vice presidential running mate, Secretary Dick Cheney. Dr. Condeleeza Rice, Governor Bush's foreign policy advisor, will join the tour on the 18th and Cindy McCain, wife of Senator John McCain (R-AZ), will join the group on Monday, October 23. The bus tour includes stops in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
"My agenda will improve public schools, make quality health care accessible and affordable, and increase the possibility of curing life threatening diseases like breast cancer," said Governor Bush. "I am honored these women who are so important in my life are going to talk to the women of America about these important issues."
Education, health care, increasing personal safety, and economic security are issues that Governor Bush has put at the top of his agenda, particularly during his terms as Governor. The women involved in this tour will discuss how Governor Bush has brought people together to make the lives of women in Texas better and what the future holds for all women under a President Bush.
